Eight Ball was my first machine. I will always have a soft spot for this model, one of the many reasons why I decided to make my own.

Back in the day when I first bought it, it needed a CPU board. We're talking 1992 here. The internet wasn't a thing then. My buddies still stuck at varsity doing honours degrees were the only ones with reliable access. After I cobbled together a working development board that could take new firmware through a serial port, the next thing was to implement the rule set. The usenet was the only place to go. rec.games.pinball to the rescue. Someone posted his best guess which was pretty good in hindsight. Never could figure out what to do with the top left standup, but anyway, that was the start of my pinball addiction.

Nowadays i build my own CPU boards, my own lamp/LED drivers,my own solenoid drivers and a power supply board which does nothing but make DC out of AC and run the flipper power relay. All designed to be connected with a serial bus and modular so that board upgrades and swap outs could be done in isolation.

I also make my own legs, playfields, flipper mechs and backglasses.
